What is a "cookie"?

A cookie is a small text file that is sent to your computer when you visit a website. Cookies on NIS's websites perform a wide variety of functions and, among other things, they allow you to move more efficiently on web pages, to save your favorite settings and generally, contribute to a better experience of the website.

European Union Directive 2009/136/EC allows the storage of cookies on your device if they are necessary for the functioning of this site, while all other cookies require your consent.

NIS’s websites can also use cookies that are not necessary for their functioning. We do not use such cookies to monitor the behavior of individual users or their identification, but to gain useful knowledge about the manner of use of websites so that we can further improve them for our users. Without the insights gained through the systems that use cookies, we would not be able to provide these services to you.

Types of cookies we use

If you set up the language, font size, or specific version of the site (for example, high contrast mode), cookies are used to set up the user interface. After the setup, you do not need to specify your preferences during the next visit to this website.

If you use parts of the site the access to which requires registration, for this purpose, we will place an authentication cookie on your computer. This allows you to leave and return to those parts of the website without re-authentication.

NIS wants to get acquainted with the way visitors use its websites and it uses network analytics services for that purpose. These services register the number of visitors and give us general information about their behavior, such as keywords entered into the search engine which direct a user to our site, the average retention time on the site, and the number of pages viewed by the user. For this purpose, we place on your computer the so-called first-party analytics cookie.

We can also use services like Google Analytics to monitor network statistics. In this case, Google places on your computer the so-called third-party cookie. Such cookie is also placed when we use Google Maps.

Storage and management of all data collected through these cookies is done by NIS or its affiliates in the countries in which the company operates.

If you need further information or if you want to contact NIS, please see our Privacy Policy.
